Story 14DX/ME022 Leoube isl. Story from 14DX/ME022 on Leoube island on 22/06/2008. Hello DXers, Idea of activating an island with my friend Bruno 14AT263 and Fabrice 14AT143 was in mind since few months already , finally we had choosen 2 smalls islands in South France dpt 83 , we will bring ME021 Estagnol isl and ME022 Leoube isl. Both new ones valid for DIFM. After a short night we're going to the seaport when we have meeting with a boat of scuba diving, after more or less 30 minutes i arrive in front of leoube island , material on the way after 2 travels cause boat is a bit far away from the island i have to jump into sea and bring all equipment without falling on rocks . After arriving on the island boat already leaving to bring AT team on ME021. I send some infos via mobile phone and small video to some friends as proofs , and i begin to erect the Quad 1 element. First contact on the island is Panos 18AT042, but conditions are not so open , 555 is still quiet , so wait and see. Bad luck after more or less 2 hours i receive some comments from stations that my modulation is bad , i easilly understand that my car battery is not charge enough or there is a problem with it. Anyway i have to continue my bad long day with the battery , i do begin to take some photos videos from the island , conditions are mostly to UK , and some good reports to IR team activating 14IR/MA012 then MA051. At least conditions increase during around 1 hour and make me feel that it is not a disaster , finally i manage to log 100 stations at the end of the day with 161AT427 last in log for today. Time to QRT for me the AT team on ME021 just jump in the boat , i quickly dismount the antenna . While returning at home , we have a long talk , i prefer not to do ME021 , going to 2 different islands with boat is very long , car battery gaves me some problem , we will finally go all together on ME022 tomorrow. It is Sunday morning we just arrive with Bruno and Fabrice on Leoube island 14A/ME022 doing cq 555 with a crazy Europe pile up , around 80 stations in log after around 45 minutes . Great day propagation , i will take microphone only few minutes today to add few stations in log missing , 1st one will be 26AT102 Keith , last one 26MC001 , my activity stop at 130 stations in log . It was great once again to be on an island with some friend , enjoying some radios activity , thanks to all , especially to bruno, Fabrice my team partners , also to Christian 401 , John 101, Darran 047 , Laurent 675 for the support .
