21DX/EU084 Sandön Island
Welcome to the informationpage of 21DX/EU084 "Sandön Island"
This weekend I will give you the opportunity to work a new IOTA in
EU-084, Sandön (Sand Island) located at 59º16'55N 18º54'50E in the
outskirts of the Stockholm archipelago.
Sandön has a long history and the village called Sandhamn (Sand Harbours) is today a popular hotspot where upscale sailors and the Stockholm jet set meets to wine and dine. The Club House, nowadays an hotel, was originally built in 1897 by the KSSS (the Royal Swedish Yacht Club) - as its club house. It was inaugurated in 1897 at the same time as King Oscar II's jubilee regatta celebrating his 25 years as regent for Sweden and Norway. As the name implies, Sandön is composed mostly of sand and there are beautiful beaches stretching around the island.
