Story 311DX/NRI
Story from 311DX/NRI activity.Hi IOTA chasers This year WWRO festival and trip to Lithuania was planned by our team long time ago. Unfortunately few days before trip Mac due the important family reason resigned from trip. On 3rd of June Filip- my son and me started over 700kms trip to Rusne island where we planned to install our HQ for this operation. At 7:30 we met Greg and from this moment 2 cars started trip to Lithuania. Short lunch break took place few km's before board crossing- without any troubles and after next 4 hours driving our target was achieved. Of course as the first we started with setting up our antenna system- Skypper made by 161AT080 Jarek- after 20 minutes 8m mast with antenna on place. Radio turned on and nice surprise- good propagation- we hope that the same will be 2 days later. After 12 hours trip we were little tired and only short team meeting Friday 4th of June was dedicated to organize short city tour and visit in earlier planned. Kintu and Minge islands- access was possible and after sending short info via sms to Darran this 2 islands were added to WWRO festival. Late afternoon we started some kind of marketing of WWRO islands festival event on band- over 160 stations logged into our 311/161DX018 and 311/161DX03 logs- each operator was informed that next day started big for Islands Chasers event- Islands Festival. Going to the details: 311DX/PI started at 3:48GMT, 1st French station logged, Slawek wake up little later and started preparation to activate 311DX/NRI as the first. To achieve NRI was necessary to go 1 km via bridge but to avoid any troubles to operate 500W 2 stations so close I decided to go as far as possible, to Uostadvaris LH. First station logged at 6:29, during next 4 hours 97 stations was logged. After this time I took decision to go back to HQ and support little Greg to seat by microphone. It was time for drinking or eating for Greg. Short activation this day- 2½ hours and 64 stations logged in. Once again back trip to HQ and operation from our base. In the same time Greg was very active - over 400 stations logged. Before midnight over 550 stations logged, it was big, big surprise for us, unexpected number of stations logged. Around 22:00GMT time to go sleep to be in good condition for second day. As yesterday- first station logged at 4:05 GMT and in the same time Slawek started preparation to Kintu and Minge islands. Driving to KI and MI, I stopped for few minutes to activate once again NRI, as our answer for a lot of questions to give chance much more operators to catch us on NRI and SRI. KIntu island was achieved around 9:00GMT and few minutes later firs station was logged in. After 1½ hours almost 60 stations logged and decision to go to the Minge island. Activation on MI started at 11:13 where after 1 hour 60 stations logged. It was enough for us and I started back trip to our HQ to "fight" with pile-up. After short break once again back trip to SRI and next chance to catch this island- one hour and next 40 stations logged. It was time to go back to work together with Greg, propagation still very good but much less stations interested in working with 311 division. Activation took place up to 21:30 and over 800 stations logged in. In our opinion very big success- thanks Greg for your choice to go to 311 division, it was good shot. This result was not expected earlier by us, we thought that 300-350 will be good result and we do not any chance to be so good as Swedish Team. We are fully satisfied but 2010 WWRO Festival is over and time to start thinking where to go in next year. Thanks to all logged and not logged stations. Hope to hear you from our next IWI activations in Poland. 161DX018 Slawek return |
