Story 47DX002/SJ009
Story from 47DX002/SJ009 activity.I live in East Denmark near by Copenhagen - my job often takes be to West Denmark (most often to Aarhus City). When travelling these 300 km. each way I pass the Great Belt Bridge (LINK1), linking the islands Funen (Fyn) and Sealand (Sjælland). In fact, Great Belt Bridge are two bridges: One from Sealand to Sprog island (Sprogø) (LINK2) - and one from Sprog island to Funen. In other words: The island Sprog connects Sealand and Funen. The bridge is a freeway and also the road passing Sprog is a freeway. There are small exits in both East and West directions, however its not legal to use them. Stop at Sprog is not accepted. Via cameras the road police immediately sees if you stop at the island. 10 minutes later you have visit!! This means that it’s not OK to stop at Sprog - and when stopping, we have to leave again within some few minutes - before the police arrives. LINK1: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Belt_Fixed_Link LINK2: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sprog%C3%B8 September 8th Well, Tuesday September 8th in the morning I had yet another meeting in Aarhus. I left for Aarhus Monday afternoon which gave me a good chance to stop at Sprog and activate the island. On the bridge, just a few km. from Sprog I called 14DX181 Marc - and we exchanged report with very strong signals. I was at the island for around 10 minutes, working 6 stations from 4 DXCC’s. I managed to make some filmclips with my phone. Unfortunately the phone seems to have a problem, as the sound is bad. September 9th The day after, on my way home, I stopped at Nyborg (Funen) and made a filmclip. After that I entered the bridge heading East towards Sealand and Sprog. 5 minutes later I was a Sprog and stopped. I spend around 15 minutes and managed to work 24 stations from 11 DXCC’s. In order not to be fined I left Sprog before the police arrived and I headed home - happy and satisfied after logging 30 stations during the 2 stops. I often pass Sprog and I will for sure be active again. It is just a question about propagation. Look forward to see you from SJ009. Greetings Soren 47DX002 return |
