Story 96DX/1

Welcome to the story of 96DX/1 held in December 2002 / January 2003.

We have received a mail from Fred and Walter. Some of the information is of general interest, which is shown below.

We have no man made noise here.
As I said in the other mail the band is death today due to a coronal hole towards earth.

Bad propagation makes the poles to close for radiosignals. And I have the
proof for this being for the second time in the pacific. As usual we only
recieve signals that does not cross the poles - like the meditaranean
stations. Their beamheadings are between 20 and 45 degrees.

Could you maybe make a link on the Delta Xray homepage. Please look for IPS
spaceweather bureau on the google search engine. Here you will find the
propagation for our area which is different from Europe. It is a really nice
page and could be a great resource for some stations.

For the real DX freaks maybe a good tip: Listen on the CB channels from 1 to
40 and maybe you hear the signals from the Tongan taxis. They use the CB
CHANNELS in FM mode.

Propagation starts later here than in 223 division because every day the
sunrise in Europe starts every day 2 minutes later. We are in this area
allready 20 days so multiply 20 by 2 minutes = 40 minutes. We simply don't hear
anything earlier.

We really have solid proof - don't worry.
Pictures will be sent as soon as we are home in Europe - It is a big hassle to do
this from here.

Please use any of this info if you think it is suitable for the 96DX/1 homepage.

Again all the best.

And please tell the guys in Europe we do ALL WE CAN!!

Greetings Fred
