Story 14DX/03001R & 14DX/23001L Story from 14DX/03001R & 14DX/23001L activity held during the DXRC Islands Weekend 2008. Hello DXers I arrived to ST POURCAIN ON SIOULE at 00:00 GMT. I just took the time to take one or two photos, and I went to a parking near the island to sleep a little. At 04:30 GMT I woke up after a heavy night in the car. I got a hot chocolate in a cafe because access to the island by car is possible only from 05:00 GMT to 20:00 GMT. Once the barrier lifted, I searched a quiet corner on the island, there are many places like that on it. Then I built up the antenna, connected the radio to the car battery and then I connected the antenna. It was 05:20 when I gae the first call on 555: "CQ CQ 14DX/03001R ROUND ISLAND for island festival QSY 510 " No reply and I decided to go for shooting pics/proofs. WX was fine with a temperature of 18 ° c maximum and the propagation was very up & down and seemed to be better from East. I left the island around 19:45 GMT with 88 QSO in the log. Afterwards I went to VASSIVIERE ISLAND, around 180 Kms in very small road across the countryside… 2h and 45 min later I arrived to lake of Vassiviere. I was very tired. I immediately went to the lake's parking and slept a bit because I didn't sleep any hours since Friday. I was waken up very early in the morning by fishermen… After quick breakfast I take direction to island by bridge access. I need 15 minutes for crossing island and join expedition place. The station was quickly ready and started cqing on 555. Not a whisper, and propagation remained very bad. Only Italy came here and with WD, AT & SD contest it was hard to find a clear frequency. Only few stations were logged, but I decided to QRT because the rain started. It was really nice to take part on this event and I’ll be present again in 2009. 73’s de Marc 14DX181 return
