1DX/EU028

The story from 1DX/EU028 (1) ativation held in April 2002.

24 April:

In date 24 April 2002, towards the hours 21,30 premises approximately, the Team arrives to the house on the island, after nearby 3 hours of travel. And, a little later, after a fast dinner, we installed the equipment: radio, antennas etc.
Some few QSO's where made, outside from the log, in order to test the conditions and the equipment. The propagation condition by LP was strong, primary from divisions 41 and 43, from where we received signals between 5/7 and 5/9. All seemed ok!!!

25 April:

The operations began close to the hours 08,00 in a propagation condition much weaker than we say yesterday. We had signals by LP, but with levels of QRM so high, that QSO's where practically impossible, and outside we had strong winds.
Finally after repeated calls with no answers, towards the hours 09,40 we (at last!) got the first operator to log (43DX101).
Unfortunately, the conditions never improved, in fact we felt they only got worse and worse this day....., and to the end of the day we only had logged 20 operators, and marked them all with very very weak signals.
Thanks to Soren (002), and all operators we worked for their Patience, but the condition was practically Non-existent.

26 April:

Ohhh no. Again no propagation. The propagation and QRM was absolutely to to any help, and only 10 Operators were logged today. e called and called, but our CQ where not heard. Another day only to forget (concerning radio :-) !!!

27 April:

For the last day on Air from Elba island, the conditions seemed to be exactly as the previous days, so we moved with the automobile towards the Mount Calamita, hoping in some change....
At the mountain we mounted also the antenna verticale (1/4), but this didn't help at all. Propagation doesnøt want to improve, and the wind was always strong, and the never inferior Qrm to levels 3/5......
5 Operators to log, in these last hours of Transmission!!!
Now back to the mainland - again 3 hours - by ferry and car. The trip was good, but unfortunately way to few in log. Sorry - so we will come back :-))

Trust us, we must make a part 2...

Tnx to : DXRC / H.Q. and cluster.dk Team
