Story 47DX/SJ027

Story from 47DX/SJ027 Gavnø - activity held June 15th, 2008.

We meet at 9:50 at the island. After a few minutes we decided where to set up the camp, which were in the north-western corner of the secondary Parking lot.

At around 10:30 we swiched on the radio and emmidiatly called 47DX047 Leif, transmitting from Bogø (Bogoe island) to check if all was OK - and we had the first station in the log.

We had to realize that propagation this day was quite poor. The first hour we logged 22 stations, and we ended with 30 stations in the log at 16:00. But we managed to test 3 different antennas, we had fun, a lot of nice chat - a great luchmeal - so we could only had hoped for one thing more: Propagation. Well, hopefully next year.

At 16:00 we decided to end, after only one station logged the final hour.

It was interesting to see that propagation towards South was bad and gave us only (in total) 30 stations in the log. At the same time we managed to work 212DX/EU002 5-6 times. They also had bad propagation, and if we did not call at our "own "frequency (27.710), we could be sure to listen 212DX/EU002.

It was fun to be one of the 3 47DX/SJxxx-teams active at the same time - and work both 47DX052/47DX132 from Nekselø island and 47DX047 Leif from Bogø island. Distance from our QTH to Nekselø was around 70,8 km and to Bogø around 37,0 km.

We will be back - at another island, another day...

Best regards
47DX019 Henrik and 47DX002 Søren
