Activity Definitions

Definitions for words:

DXCC: A DXCC is a "radio country". See our list of DXCC's here. DXRC update the list of DXCC's according to the independent internetsite cluster.dk's updates.

IOTA: Islands On The Air.

LOTA: Lighthouse On The Air. Please read our Activity Guidelines concerning LOTA.

COTA: Castles On The Air. Please read our Activity Guidelines concerning COTA.

SES: Special Event Stations. Please read our Activity Guidelines concerning SES.

Activation: An activation is a "major event" from a DXCC or an IOTA. An activation is also an activity.

Activity: An activity is (radio-)activity from a Lighthouse, an Island or anywhere else, for example from an operators home.
A SES is also an activity.

Activity callsign: An activity callsign is a special callsign, issued for a special activity, for instance a DX-activation, an IOTA-activity or a personal portable activity.
ALL DXRC activity callsigns must be applied via DXRC HQ Thanks.

Definitions for groups:

Group 1:
DXRC define a group 1-DXCC as a DXCC from where there never ever has been 11-meter activity.

Group 2:
DXRC define a group 2-DXCC as a DXCC from where there are not activity on a regularly basis.
- We think it will be good publicity for the club to run an activation from a group 2-DXCC (example: 290DX/1).

Group 3:
DXRC define a group 3-DXCC as a DXCC from where there is activity on a regular basis, either by nomourous "guests-operators" or activity by operators living there at more or less permanent basis.
In general DXRC does not support DX-activations from DXCC's in Group 3, as DXRC believe it is unserious an unprofessional to run an DX-activation from a group 3-DXCC.

As exclusion are IOTA-activity from islands that are not inhibited with 11-meter operators.

As DXRC does not support activations from Group 3-DXCC's, we recommend our members to be active from these DXCC's with portable callsign (examples: 1/13DX032, 30/13DX032/E317)
